Celebrities and Entrepreneurs: Enterprising Spirits that Blaze and Flare

Oprah Winfrey, the epitome of celebrity entrepreneurs
I decided to open this blog because of my fascination for celebrities who made it big in the business world, and entrepeneurs who parlayed their money-savvy spirit into celebrity status. I have always fallen for those who have the the skills, the guts, and the money to keep on pushing forward and earn more money by making their money work for them. I always feel inspired when these people, already successful in their field, decide to stay humble and still continue to strive harder and give their best.

I have read a lot of horror stories about how starlets and wanna-be movie kings and queens... and even the established superstars... waste the chance of glory. I always feel pity for those who did not have the guts to spend their earnings wisely, so when they have moved past their glory and fortune, they find themselves living from hand to mouth.

Let's take the case of Willie Nelson, who was forced to used all the proceeds of his book, The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy My Memories, because he owed the taxmen a whooping $16 mn.

Then, there's Mike Tyson, who, at the height of his fame, raked $300 mn, but had to file for bankruptcy, thanks to his high-spending lifestyle, bouts with addiction, marital woes, legal fees, etc.

And who will forget Kim Basinger? One of Hollywood's top sex symbol in the 80s who scored at Oscar in the 90s, Kim's wrong financial decisions (ex. buying an entire town), plus messy divorce proceedings, drove her to bankruptcy.

But there are also Hollywood success stories that are worth noting...

I am always biased to those who were born poor... in fact, those who were on the verge of hopeless and reeling behind misery. My heart belongs to those who were oppressed, abused, and discriminated for one reason or another who never let the ray of hope leave their hearts and minds.

Come to think of Madam C.J. Walker, the first self-made female millionaire and the first Black American to amass that fortune. She grew up in a poor, segregated community infested by scalp problems. Yet, she never let hardships derail her dreams, so she ended up a success.

Then, there's Oprah Winfrey... her harrowing, tragic childhood... and the glory where she is right now--a lady of many first: first Black billionaire, first self-made female billionaire, so on and so forth.

We have so many celebrity entrepreneurs and and billionaire celebrities who never stop from inspiring us. They keep on telling us that no one is in charge of our fate but us. Theirs are stories that touch, that inspire, that tell us that all we have to do is grab and seize every chance that will change our loves for the better.
